SchoolNet 7 Grant

In the fall of 2003 I applied for and received state grant funds to purchase 4 PCs for each of the 7th grade classrooms. These PC had minimum state specifications of processor speed, memory size, hard drives, and monitors. I decided that instead of purchasing the 20 PCs through the state sponsored purchasing site, that it would be more beneficial to the school and the students to build the PCs.

This was my first year at NTLS and at that time I was just beginning to build our new technology classes. I decided that the Computer 2 class (it has since split into Computer Hardware and Web and Graphics Design) would build the PCs.

Our class of 7 computer 2 students (that's all we had my first year) spent the entire 4th quarter building PCs with kits that we purchased from Columbus Micro.

We ended up building 60 PCs instead of the 20 funded by the grant.

The "extra" PCs were used in various classrooms as well as refurbishing the High School lab, which at that time was Pentium II machines.
