National Trail Local School District is committed to making our website and digital content accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every student, family, employee, and community member to be able to get the same information, use the same services, and take part in the same activities on our website with substantially the same ease.

Our standard

We are working to make our website meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the standard set by the U.S. Department of Justice rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Our work also follows Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

What we are doing

  • Adding text descriptions (alt text) to images.
  • Using clear headings and link text that describe where a link goes.
  • Replacing or fixing older PDF and Word documents so screen readers can read them, or posting the same information as a web page.
  • Adding captions to district videos.
  • Training the staff who post content to our website.
  • Checking the website for accessibility problems on a regular schedule.

Known limitations

Some content may not yet be fully accessible while we work through it, including:

  • Older PDF documents, such as past board documents and handbooks.
  • Content provided by outside companies that we link to or embed, such as Google Calendar, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, Final Forms, ParentSquare, PaySchools, Clever, and school menu services. We ask these vendors to meet accessibility standards, but we do not control their websites.
